Opening up the program today was Law Smith, Professional Comedian and COO/Co-Founder of Tocobaga Consulting. Law’s clients refer to him as the “Swiss Army Knife” based on the range of expertise he brings to SMB digital consulting, including problem solving abilities, creativity and witty banter gleaned from his ten years on stage as a stand-up comedian. Law opened his consulting practice just over a year ago and talks about lessons learned in comedy/improv and how they help him every day in his business. He has practiced comedy for over 10 years starting out on the open mic around age 19 and has today turned into a headliner. He has performed in clubs all across the Country but still makes time to run his business. Jamie and law talk about the benefits of improv classes to improve one’s social skills and business skills and Law injects a lot of his own on stage experience and lessons learned throughout the discussion. Over the years, Law has learned to recognize personality types in the audiences and that skill helps him to this today in consulting. His services in business include brand creation, website design/development, online and traditional marketing, operations consulting and strategic planning to name a few. He is also the host of The Sweat Equity Podcast and a member of The Cigar City Comedy Club in Tampa. Check him out online at his YouTube channel found here https://www.youtube.com/user/CigarCityComedy and more on his business at www.tocoworks.com.
At 8am, we kicked off #TBBOTuesday with one of our newest members, Charena Colvin, CEO of Passion Pamper Parties. Since the beginning of high school, Charena embodied the passion to create an opportunity with her conceptual vision, which lead her to hit the ground running with the popular party scene. Starting off hosting efficacious house parties that received buzz on school campuses from near and far, she made a name for herself in her youthful days. After graduating high school at 17, the young entrepreneur ventured to Atlanta to attend Clark Atlanta University. While attending an alumni meeting, Charena met a woman who assisted her in creating her vision – Soon after it wasn’t long until the self-driven entrepreneur decided to stick to her intuition believing “Formal education can gain you a living, and self-education can gain you a fortune” and dropped out freshmen year to focus on building a vision no one else could foresee. Her product line caters to the female consumer typically for bridal showers bachelorette parties and she offers two types of parties, the exploration and the relaxation experience. She discusses this and her new app that she is in development with through PopKorn Apps on this segment along with some good laughs too. Find her online at www.passionpamperparties.com or give her a call today at 917-960-7574!
Closing out the hour was Daisy Vega, Founder and President of Freedom to Walk Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to raising awareness for the WalkAide. This device helps people suffering from foot drop, a condition that she describes as feeling like you have a 50 pound foot. She developed this because of Multiple Sclerosis but other diseases and conditions also lead to drop foot. The device helps retrain the muscles to work properly and alleviates many of the problems associated with this condition. She discusses how many insurance companies do not cover the cost of this device which is around $5000 and her and the organization’s mission is also to get insurance companies to recognize this as a legitimate medical need and cost and thus cover it. She was joined in studio by Michael Holmes, board member of the organization, and he shares with us his “why” of joining the organization and also about their Gala coming up in October. They have sponsorships available for the event and it will be held at the Centre Club. For more information, visit www.freedomtowalkfoundation.com!
